Rebellion is nigh in Matilda JR., a gleefully witty ode to the the anarchy of childhood and the power of imagination! This story of a girl who dreams of a better life and the children she inspires will have audiences rooting for the “revolting children” who are out to teach the grown-ups a lesson.
Matilda has astonishing wit, intelligence… and special powers! She’s unloved by her cruel parents but impresses her schoolteacher, the highly loveable Miss Honey. Matilda’s school life isn’t completely smooth sailing, however – the school’s mean headmistress, Miss Trunchbull, hates children and just loves thinking up new punishments for those who don’t abide by her rules. But Matilda has courage and cleverness in equal amounts, and could be the school pupils’ saving grace!
Auditions will be held on November 27-29 from 5:00-6:45 pm. They will be held at Blue Water located at 605 Rice St. East, Wayzata, MN 55391. The theatre is on the corner of Rice St. East and Walker Avenue. Walk up the driveway (off of Walker Ave.) and enter the theatre through the back.
Rehearsals are generally on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays from 5:00-6:45 pm beginning December 12th. There will be some Saturday morning rehearsals. There are no rehearsals December 19th-26th. See the Actor Audition Form for the full rehearsal schedule.
Performances will be February 9th-11th and 16th-18th at 7:00 pm and November 12th and 19th at 2:00 pm.

On Audition Day:
Arrive at the theatre 5-10 minutes before your scheduled time.
Check in at the table in the lobby. Hand in a headshot labeled with your name (photocopy of a casual picture is fine) or have your picture taken.
If you can’t make it to auditions at the theatre, you can send a video instead. In your video, state your full name, sing “Naughty” and read from the side. You can read the parts of all of the characters or invite someone to be your scene partner. Email your video to auditions@bluewatertheatre.com by 8:00 pm on Wednesday, November 30th. Include your full name and MATILDA in the subject line of the email. Send it to auditions@bluewatertheatre.com.
Callbacks and Casting:
Families of actors invited to callbacks will receive an email by 9:00 pm on Thursday, December 1st. Youth may still be cast in the show if they are not invited to callbacks.
Callbacks will be held on Sunday, December 4th from 6:00-8:00 pm at the theatre. The schedule is listed below. Actors invited to callbacks should practice the song identified for the particular character they are being considered for.
The cast list will be posted on this audition webpage by 5:00 pm on Tuesday, December 6th.
