Lerner and Loewe’s Brigadoon is the enchanting and beloved Broadway and West End musical that inspired the classic MGM film, and numerous productions all over the world. Featuring such standards as “Almost Like Being in Love,” “Come to Me, Bend To Me,” and “Heather on the Hill,” Brigadoon is a timeless, romantic classic which vividly brings the mystery and magic of the Scottish highlands to life.
New Yorker Tommy Albright unexpectedly arrives at the mysterious Scottish Highland village of Brigadoon, which only appears for one day every 100 years. When Tommy meets and falls in love with Fiona, a beautiful villager in this magical hamlet, he must decide whether to return to his old life, or stay in Brigadoon — forever.
Auditions are open to student actors who are currently in grades 6 through 12. Actors who wish to audition should come to their choice of one of the following two audition times:
- Monday, February 18 from 7:00-9:30
- Tuesday, February 19 from 7:00-9:30
NOTE: If you cannot attend either of the audition times, we will happily set up an alternate audition time for you. Please contact Charlie to set something up. We just ask that all auditions are completed by Wednesday, February 20.
–> NEW <– Prior to the audition, actors and their parents must complete and submit the online BRIGADOON ACTOR INFO & CONFLICT SHEET. BWTC veterans will recognize this as a similar form to the paper one we have used for years. We are switching to an online system so that we can collect your data in a more efficient way. Please make sure to have your calendar handy when filling it out, as you will need to list your rehearsal conflicts.
At the audition, actors will be paired up to present THIS scene between the characters Tommy & Fiona. The scene does not need to be memorized, but we do encourage actors to familiarize themselves with the content ahead of time.
Also at the audition, each actor will sing a selection from the song “Almost Like Being in Love.” To view the specific musical selection, click HERE. To hear the piano accompaniment that will be used for every actor at the audition, click the following link:
Callbacks for select actors will be held on Thursday, February 21 from 7:00-9:30 in the evening. A list of actors who are needed at callbacks will be posted on this page by noon on Wednesday, February 20.
The final cast list will be posted by noon on Sunday, February 24.
We expect to cast between 35-40 actors in this production. Please note that, while we are opening this main stage show up to middle school actors (as we do need a few “small” people in the show), we do expect the cast to be made up primarily of high school actors. Actors in grades 6-8 who audition, but are not cast, will have an additional opportunity to audition for our next intermediate show, which will be Singin’ in the Rain JR. Audition information for that show is available HERE. Please contact Charlie if you have any questions.
Rehearsals will begin on Monday, February 25. With a few exceptions (please refer to the conflict sheet for the exact schedule), we will generally rehearse at the following times:
- Mondays from 7:00-9:30pm
- Tuesdays from 7:00-9:30pm
- Thursdays from 7:00-9:30pm
- Saturdays from 9:00-4:00pm
Not all actors will be needed at every rehearsal, especially for the first month or so of the production. A schedule for the upcoming week will be emailed out to the actors each Sunday afternoon.
We will have four dress/tech rehearsals and seven performances, at which attendance is mandatory except in extremely rare circumstances. Those dates & times are as follows:
- Monday, April 22 from 5:00-9:30
- Tuesday, April 23 from 5:00-9:30
- Wednesday, April 24 from 5:00-9:30
- Thursday, April 25 from 5:00-9:30
- Friday, April 26 @ 7:00pm
- Saturday, April 27 @ 7:00pm
- Sunday, April 28 @ 2:00p
- Friday, May 3 @ 7:00pm
- Saturday, May 4 @ 1:00pm
- Saturday, May 4 @ 7:00pm
- Sunday, May 5 @ 2:00pm
The fee for an actor to take part in this production is $355, which is due to BWTC by Thursday, February 28, unless alternate arrangements have been made. Those payments can be made by check or by credit card via a secure online payment site that will be emailed to parents and posted on this page once the show has been cast.
In addition, actors will be required to bring a separate cash/check deposit of $25 to the first rehearsal in order to be issued a script. That same $25 will be given back to the actor at the conclusion of the run in May, once their script has been successfully returned.
Scholarships are available to families who need them. In order to apply for a scholarship, please contact Sarah Irwin (BWTC’s Managing Director). Please note that in order to be considered for a scholarship, Sarah must have your application on file before you show up to audition. We have a limited number of scholarships that we can give out for each show, and we may not be able to honor requests that are made after a show has been cast.
