***PETER PAN CASTING UPDATE***
THANK YOU to everyone who auditioned for our upcoming production of PETER PAN.
To view the cast list, click HERE.
The entire cast should plan to attend the first rehearsal at BWTC from 6:00-9:00pm on Monday, December 3.
Additional information will be communicated to cast members and their families via email between now and then.
Over the next week or so, BWTC will be making show and audition announcements about our winter intermediate and main stage musicals. If you auditioned for Peter Pan, but did not get cast, do look for information about those shows to come out soon. Auditions for both of those productions will (likely) take place the week of December 10.
If you have any questions, contact Katie O’Halloran at firstname.lastname@example.org
From the Director: I am so thrilled to return to Blue Water Theatre Company to direct J.M. Barrie’s Peter Pan. Every time I read this script, I envision a world of possibilities, endless motion, toys, games, and fairy dust. This is a world where all things make-believe become reality— a world where magical moments are typical, but always exciting. The more time I spend with this play, the more I wonder if reality could be just as extraordinary as the world of Neverland if we allowed it to be. When and why do we stop seeing the possibilities around us, and can we learn to see them again as we once did as children? What if our bedsheets really are the sail of a pirate ship or the clouds we soar past as we take flight through the starry night sky? Together, we will craft a world where the mundane becomes enchanting as we share J.M. Barrie’s classic tale. — Katie O’Halloran, director
Auditions are open to student actors who will be grades 3 through 12 during the current 2018-2019 school year. They will take place on Sunday, October 21 from 6:30-8:30pm, and Sunday, October 28 from 2:30-5:00pm. Actors should sign up for a ten-minute audition slot on one of those two days by clicking HERE.
If you would like to audition, but cannot make any of the scheduled audition times, please contact Katie Halloran.
For their auditions, actors must complete and have a parent/guardian sign the Peter Pan Actor Information & Conflict Sheet and turn it in at their audition.
Actors must also prepare one of the following four short “sides,” which can be downloaded HERE. This does not need to be memorized, but it should be obvious that actors have spent some time becoming familiar with the text.
Callbacks for select actors will be held on Sunday, November 4 from 2:30-5:00 in the afternoon. Actors who are needed at callbacks will be notified by the director prior to that date.
The final cast list will be posted by noon on Friday, November 9. We plan to cast 16 actors of a variety of age levels in this production.
Rehearsals will begin on Monday, December 3, but will generally take place on Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday evenings (or occasionally Sunday afternoons). For the complete rehearsal schedule, please refer to the Peter Pan Actor Information & Conflict Sheet.
We will have four dress/tech rehearsals and four performances, at which attendance is mandatory except in extremely rare circumstances. Those dates & times are as follows:
- Monday, January 21 from 5:00-10:00
- Tuesday, January 22 from 5:00-10:00
- Wednesday, January 23 from 5:00-10:00
- Thursday, January 24 from 5:00-10:00
- Friday, January 25 @ 7:00pm
- Saturday, January 26 @ 7:00pm
- Sunday, January 27 @ 1:00pm
- Sunday, January 27 @ 7:00pm
The fee for an actor to take part in this production is $225, which is due to BWTC by Friday, November 16, unless alternate arrangements have been made. Those payments can be made by check or by credit card via a secure online payment site that will be emailed to parents and posted on this page once the show has been cast.
Scholarships are available to families who need them. In order to apply for a scholarship, please contact Sarah Irwin (BWTC’s Managing Director). Please note that in order to be considered for a scholarship, Sarah must have your application on file before you show up to audition. We have a limited number of scholarships that we can give out for each show, and we may not be able to honor requests that are made after a show has been cast.
