Blue Water Theatre Company’s mission is to create a theatre community for young people through meaningful and transformative experiences.
Blue Water Theatre Company is organized exclusively for artistic and educational purposes. We reach our goals by promoting an environment where young people can develop into healthy, caring and responsible adults. Each child will learn to communicate positively, encourage one another, and integrate into their surrounding community and model positive behavior.
Blue Water Theatre Company’s vision is to be a model organization that is “kids first” and focused on creating outstanding theatre productions that are developed in a safe, accepting, responsive and supportive community which builds in young people confidence, intellectual curiosity, empowerment and skills that last a lifetime.
Charlie Leonard founded Blue Water Theatre Company in August of 2007 as an educational nonprofit organization. He is a 1996 graduate of Wayzata High School and 2000 graduate of Luther College in Decorah, Iowa. Leonard directed nearly 100 productions for Blue Water Theatre Company, Plymouth Middle School, Robbinsdale Middle School, Wayzata West Middle School, Hopkins North Junior High School, and the Wayzata Summer Youth Theatre. Mr. Leonard was honored in 2015 by Luther College as the recipient of the 2015 Luther College Young Alumni Award for his work in founding and directing Blue Water Theatre Company.
