Blue Water will soon be moving to a new home! We have purchased the Unitarian Universalist Church of Minnetonka (UUCM) at 605 Rice Street East in downtown Wayzata, and we will be moving in April 29th, 2017. Our plans are to convert it into a theater facility with expanded rehearsal, office, and performance space. Beyond meeting these basic needs of our growing organization, we believe maintaining this historically significant building in Wayzata will further cement BWTC’s role as a major arts organization in the community for years to come.
A comprehensive financial analysis by the BWTC board demonstrates that the purchase and operation of the UUCM facility will be adequately supported by our current level of programming. BWTC’s most urgent need at this time is to raise money to convert the building into a theater (staging, sound, lights, etc) and complete several minor renovations, including the addition of air conditioning to the building, some reconfiguration of existing spaces, and minor cosmetic changes (painting, etc). We have started our fundraising campaign, with the goal of raising $250,000 in order to successfully execute these updates and to maintain our high level of programming. We are making good progress toward this goal, but are still in need of donations – refer to the link on the right side of the page. We are thrilled that an anonymous donor has come forward to match all donations to our capital campaign up to $100,000 by June 1.
We are excited to take this next step in Blue Water’s history, and eagerly anticipating the memories that will be made in our new home as this chapter begins!
Please feel free to reach out to either of the Board Presidents with any questions.
