THE GLASS MENAGERIE, by Tennessee Williams, is one of theatre’s most cherished and beloved modern plays.

It surrounds the story of the Wingfield family. Amanda Wingfield, a Southern belle past her prime, is living with her two grown children in a small apartment in St. Louis in the late 1930’s. Amanda dreams of a better life for her shy and crippled daughter Laura, who puts her heart into caring for her glass collection and Victrola set. So Amanda pushes her son, Tom, to find a “gentleman caller” for Laura. However, the arrival of this gentleman caller sends shockwaves through the family and causes cracks to form in the delicate fantasies that have kept the family going.

This is a story of a family coping with life, loss, and love. As the story unfolds and the tension increases, this breathtaking play has left audiences feeling speechless and in awe. Many feelings get stirred up. People empathize with each of the characters and get hooked into their conflicts with each other.

Come see a group of passionate students perform this lifetime classic. These students have spent the past year studying theatre intensively around the Midwest and the East Coast. Each person is absolutely in love with their work and is determined to create the absolute best product to honor Mr. William’s highly acclaimed, award-winning play.
